Greenhouse floor without steel reinforcement

Greenhouse floor realised in fibre reinforced concrete, which meant traditional steel reinforcement was not required. This delivered an efficient, sustainable and cost-saving solution.

The project in detail.

For this project we realised a high-quality, durable floor structure in a modern glasshouse horticulture greenhouse. By applying an innovative fibre reinforced concrete solution, traditional steel reinforcement could be dispensed with entirely. This resulted not only in faster execution, but also in a more efficient construction process and lower material use. The new floor offers excellent load-bearing capacity, high wear resistance and a long service life, making it a perfect match for the intensive loads within the greenhouse environment. By omitting steel reinforcement, the risks of corrosion have also been reduced and the durability of the structure further improved. The project was successfully delivered on schedule and is a fine example of how smart material applications can contribute to more efficient and future-proof greenhouse construction.
