The product standard for fibres in concrete
The European harmonised standard for fibres in concrete: part 1 for steel fibres, part 2 for polymer fibres. The standard governs CE marking, fibre classes and declarations of performance (DoP). System 1 certification is required for structural applications — all our structural fibres meet this requirement.
BRL 9320 / NL BSB — OPWA
Environmental approval for asphalt additives
Asphalt mixtures fall under the Dutch Soil Quality Decree (Besluit bodemkwaliteit); the NL BSB® product certificate based on BRL 9320 guarantees this. Additives must therefore be included in the OPWA (Description of Hot Asphalt Product Group). AsphaltX® is on this list with reassessment due by mid-2031 — meaning asphalt plants can dose it without additional environmental research.
Concrete Agreement
National sustainability agreements
In the Concrete Agreement (Betonakkoord), government bodies and market parties have agreed to substantially reduce CO₂ emissions from the concrete chain. Fibre reinforcement that replaces reinforcing steel contributes directly: on projects such as the NDSM shipyard, a 98% CO₂ reduction was achieved on the reinforcement.

Calculation tool for environmental costs in civil engineering
DuboCalc calculates the environmental cost of a design over its entire service life. Contracting authorities such as Rijkswaterstaat use the outcome (MKI) as a notional discount on the tender price. Our EPDs provide the validated input data per product.

A single figure for environmental impact
The MKI expresses all environmental effects of a product or design in euros. The lower the MKI, the greater your tendering advantage. Fibres with a low CO₂ footprint — such as TwistR® and AsphaltX® — demonstrably lower the MKI of your tender.
